Sustainability in Media at SMPTE 2022

Thanks to Linda Tadic, Dean Stoneback, Cassidy Phillips, and Cedric Lejuene for your input into our session at the SMPTE Media Technology Summit in Hollywood on October 26, 2022.

We had a great session talking about real examples of how the media tech industry can work towards a sustainability simply by taking a look at current energy efficiencies.
We learned from Cédric Lejeune that productions are using sustainability tools to ensure productions are green and that carbon budgeting needs to be one integral.
We learned from Cassidy Phillips that using standard sized methods like SMPTE ST 2110 in broadcast facilities can result in huge long term energy and other efficiencies.
We learned from Dean Stoneback that the cable industry has been doing standards work to improve its carbon footprint for over 10 years. With results to show.
We learned from Linda Tadic that having good archival policies will result in energy savings. Not to mention using alternative tools like tape. Yea, tape.
I just helped bring it all together.
Thanks to all and to SMPTE for including this important session. With more to come!
